Somatic meditation for women

The Body-Led Meditation Method

Meditation that follows the body, rather than asking the body to follow the practice.

What if meditation wasn't something you had to get right, but a way of learning to listen to yourself?

The Body-Led Meditation Method is my approach to meditation, somatic awareness and embodied presence, created for women who want to feel more connected to themselves without having to force calm, push through discomfort or become someone different in the process.

Have you ever felt this way?

You want to slow down, but your body doesn't always know how.

Perhaps you have tried meditation, downloaded an app or sat quietly hoping the calm would arrive, only to discover that slowing down can feel surprisingly difficult.

  • "I can't switch off."
  • "I've tried meditation, but I feel like I'm doing it wrong."
  • "I'm so tired, but I can't rest."
  • "I live in my head."
  • "My body feels tense, numb or unsettled when I slow down."

You might spend your days caring, working, anticipating, remembering, organising and holding everyone else's needs in mind, while your own body quietly carries the cost of all that doing.

And when you finally find a moment for yourself, sitting still may bring you closer to the feelings and sensations you haven't had much space to notice.

Rather than another reason to judge yourself, I believe this is where a different conversation with your body can begin.

Nature photograph Water, a quiet landscape or sunlight moving through leaves.

Your body, in all its states, is welcome and accommodated here.

You don't need to arrive calm, clear or already connected to yourself.

You may arrive anxious, tired, restless, emotional, uncertain or disconnected, and we can begin by gently noticing what is here and exploring what might offer enough support to meet it.

A different relationship with meditation

What if the practice could meet you?

Many of us have come to associate meditation with sitting still, following the breath, quietening the mind or reaching a particular state of calm.

These practices can be deeply meaningful, but they are not always the most supportive starting point for every person or every nervous system state.

When we're feeling activated, movement or orienting to our surroundings may be more accessible than stillness. When we're exhausted or disconnected, a gentle sensory experience or supportive connection might offer a more approachable way in.

The Body-Led Meditation Method begins with this understanding: our bodies, our environments, our life experiences and the seasons we're moving through all influence how we experience meditation.

Rather than using meditation to override what is happening within us, we learn to include the body in the conversation.

The Body-Led Meditation Method

Four ways of coming into relationship.

At the heart of my approach are four interconnected elements that support a more compassionate, responsive relationship with your body and your meditation practice.

Noticing

Becoming curious about what is happening in your body, emotions and surroundings, without immediately needing to change anything.

Meeting

Exploring how to be with what you notice, bringing compassion and curiosity to sensations, feelings and protective responses.

Supporting

Discovering practices and resources that respond to your nervous system, capacity and what might feel helpful in this moment.

Integrating

Bringing what you discover into your relationships, choices, daily rhythms and the changing seasons of your life.

These are not four steps to master or a sequence you need to get right. Sometimes support comes before awareness, movement before stillness, or connection before turning inward. We begin where you are.

Many ways to practise

Meditation doesn't always have to look like meditation.

Some days it may be a quiet moment with your breath. On others, it may be the movement of your body, your feet meeting the earth or the sound of water drawing you back into relationship with the present moment.

∿

Movement

Gentle swaying, stretching, walking or expressive movement, allowing the body to participate rather than asking it to be still.

◌

Sensory awareness

Feeling the support beneath you, noticing touch, sound and sight, and reconnecting with the world around you.

☼

Nature

Finding companionship through trees, water, light, wind and the rhythms of the more-than-human world.

≈

Breath

Discovering whether the breath feels supportive today, without needing to control it or make it the focus of every practice.

♡

Connection

Recognising that presence and regulation can also be supported through relationship, care, attunement and being met.

☾

Stillness

Making space for quiet, contemplation and rest when they feel accessible, rather than treating stillness as the only way to meditate.

Is this speaking to you?

For the woman who is ready to listen inward.

This work is for women who are beginning to realise that continuing to push through isn't the same as feeling connected to themselves.

This may feel familiar...

  • You feel burnt out, anxious or overwhelmed.
  • You're capable and responsible, but tired of carrying so much.
  • You live in your head and feel disconnected from your body.
  • You struggle to rest, even when you're exhausted.
  • Meditation has felt too still, rigid or like another thing to get right.
  • You're navigating motherhood, fertility challenges, grief, identity shifts or another life transition.
  • You want to feel more connected to your needs, emotions, intuition and sense of self.

And you might be longing for...

  • A meditation practice that feels more supportive and sustainable in real life.
  • More understanding of your nervous system and stress responses.
  • A gentler relationship with rest and restoration.
  • Greater awareness of your emotional needs and boundaries.
  • More space for self-compassion instead of self-criticism.
  • A growing sense of self-trust when making choices.
  • Moments of steadiness and connection that don't depend on everything in life being calm.

This is not about promising a particular emotional state or becoming calm all the time. It's about developing a practice that can support you in relating to yourself with greater understanding, choice and compassion.

Hear a little from me

Why I created this approach.

Meditation has been part of my life for more than a decade, but my understanding of what it means to be present has changed through my own experiences, somatic training, embodiment and motherhood.

In this short video, I'll share what led me to develop the Body-Led Meditation Method and why I believe meditation needs to make room for the body and the real lives we're living.

Experience, care and connection

Why women work with me.

The person guiding your meditation matters just as much as the practice itself, particularly when slowing down brings you into contact with feelings, sensations or parts of yourself that haven't had much space to be heard.

My work brings together professional experience, more than a decade of meditation teaching, specialist somatic training and the lived understanding that comes from navigating life's many transitions.

A practice shaped by experience, and guided by care.

I understand what it means to carry a lot.

Before moving into this work, I spent years in demanding professional environments, including government, with a background in law. I understand the pressures of responsibility, overthinking and appearing capable while quietly pushing through.

I've also taught meditation in corporate environments, retreats, women's circles, private mentoring and community settings, meeting people across many different stages of life.

More than a decade immersed in meditation.

I have been teaching meditation and mindfulness for more than ten years across a range of settings, and I'm also a meditation and mindfulness teacher trainer, mentor and course writer at the Australian Centre for Meditation and Mindfulness.

As a member of Meditation Association Australia, and with training in a wide range of meditation styles, I can draw upon different approaches rather than expecting everyone to respond to one technique.

Somatic and trauma-sensitive training informs my guidance.

My training in SomaSoul somatic therapy, counselling skills, Gestalt-informed practice, trauma-sensitive and anxiety-sensitive mindfulness, the Non-Linear Movement Method and eco-therapy has shaped the way I understand meditation and the body.

This means we don't need to treat anxiety, emotion, numbness, restlessness or protective patterns as interruptions to the practice. Instead, we can approach them with curiosity, choice, sensitivity and appropriate pacing.

I bring my own experience of burnout, disconnection and motherhood.

Like many women, I know what it feels like to become disconnected from my body while continuing to show up for everything that life asks of me.

My experience of burnout, health challenges and becoming a mother to twins has deepened my understanding of capacity, identity, rest and what it can mean to find your way back to yourself through periods of change.

Your practice is shaped around you.

My approach is practical, relational, feminine and body-led, respecting meditation's roots while making room for women's real bodies and real lives.

We can consider your nervous system, menstrual cycle, hormones, energy, responsibilities and the particular season of life you're in, whether that involves motherhood, grief, fertility challenges, burnout or a changing sense of identity.

The intention is to develop a practice that can adapt with you, rather than one more rigid routine to maintain.

You're not simply learning a meditation technique. You're being supported to develop a more compassionate relationship with yourself.

Inside the mentoring journey

Four sessions. Space to unfold.

These sessions offer a gentle framework for our work together, while leaving room for your experience and nervous system to guide the pace.

Session one

Your Body's Meditation Map

We explore your relationship with meditation, stress, stillness and rest. You'll begin to understand what happens in your body when you slow down, and which kinds of practices may feel most supportive.

Session two

From Head to Body

We gently explore moving from thinking about your experience to sensing it. Through movement, sensation, breath, emotion and subtle inner signals, we make room for awareness to become something you experience through your body.

Session three

The Part That Does Too Much

We gently become curious about the parts of you that push, perform, please, fix, overthink or find it difficult to rest. Instead of treating these patterns as problems, we explore how to relate to them with more understanding and compassion.

Session four

Your Personal Practice

We bring your discoveries together and create a meditation pathway that fits your actual life. You'll leave with personalised recommendations and three recorded practices to support you beyond our time together.

A little note from me

We begin with who you are today.

What I've come to appreciate through years of teaching, practising and exploring meditation is that the body cannot be separated from the life we are living.

We bring our experiences, relationships, responsibilities, histories and hopes into every moment of stillness. Sometimes there's ease, and sometimes there's a whole lot that needs tending to before stillness feels possible.

I don't want meditation to become another place where women feel they need to perform, improve or get themselves right.

My hope is that this work offers a different experience, where you can begin to understand yourself more deeply, become curious about your body's responses and find practices that meet you with care and compassion.

Wherever you're beginning from, you're welcome to start there.

Before we begin

A few questions you might have.

What is somatic or body-led meditation?

Somatic meditation is a body-based approach that includes physical sensations, emotions, nervous system responses and lived experience. Rather than relying only on stillness or focused attention, we explore practices that respond to what is happening in your body and life.

What if I've never meditated before?

No previous meditation experience is needed. You are welcome whether you're completely new to meditation, returning after some time away or have practised for many years.

What if meditation makes me anxious or I find stillness difficult?

This is one of the reasons I've developed a body-led approach. We don't need to force stillness, close your eyes or focus on your breath when those practices feel uncomfortable. We can begin with movement, grounding, sensory awareness, orienting or another supportive practice.

What's the difference between the 90-minute session and mentoring?

The 90-minute Discovery Session offers a spacious introduction to the method and a personalised experience of body-led meditation.

The four-session mentoring program allows us to explore your patterns, nervous system, relationship with meditation and supportive practices over time, alongside personalised recordings and a continuing practice plan.

How much do the sessions cost?

The 90-minute Body-Led Meditation Discovery Session is $250 AUD.

The four-session Body-Led Meditation Mentoring program is $649 AUD, with payment plans available.

You are welcome to begin with a free 15-minute discovery call to explore which option might feel right for you.

What does an online session look like?

We begin by arriving gently and talking about what's been happening in your life, body and meditation practice. From there, I may guide you through a body-led meditation or somatic practice, allowing space for reflection, questions and integration.

Every session is personalised, and you are welcome to move, pause or adjust the practice along the way.

Where are sessions held?

Sessions take place online through Zoom. Ideally, you'll join from a comfortable, reasonably private space with a stable internet connection.

Where possible, I invite you to keep your video on so we can see one another, supporting the relational and body-led nature of our work.

Is this suitable during motherhood or other life transitions?

Yes. Changing seasons of life are central to the way I approach meditation. We can consider your current capacity, responsibilities, energy and the demands you're navigating, whether that's motherhood, grief, fertility challenges, burnout or an identity shift.

Is this the same as somatic therapy?

My somatic therapy training informs the way I teach meditation, particularly around nervous system awareness, pacing, relational support and choice.

These offerings focus on meditation mentoring and practice rather than replacing medical or psychological care. If you're seeking somatic therapy, you can explore my private body-led sessions .

What happens on the free discovery call?

We spend around 15 minutes connecting, talking about what has brought you here and exploring whether a Discovery Session or the mentoring program feels like the right support.

There is no pressure to have everything figured out before reaching out.

What are the booking and cancellation arrangements for mentoring?

Payment for mentoring is arranged before the first session, and payment plans may be discussed.

The four sessions are ordinarily used within six months of beginning. If you need to reschedule, please aim to provide at least 12 hours' notice. Late cancellations may result in the session being forfeited, subject to the agreed booking terms.

You don't have to become someone different to come home to yourself.

Perhaps your next step isn't another practice to perfect, but a little more space to listen, feel and discover what your body has been asking for.

If something here resonates with you, I'd love to connect and explore whether the Body-Led Meditation Method might offer the kind of support you're looking for.
