Somatic therapy · Body-led meditation · Ecotherapy
Hi, I'm
Lauren.
I support women to listen to live a more body centred way.
My work brings together somatic therapy, body-led meditation, nervous system awareness and nature-based practice, with a focus on helping women come back into relationship with themselves.
Why I work this way
My body taught me another way.
One of the experiences that changed my relationship with meditation happened during a silent retreat.
I had been meditating for years and arrived ready to disconnect from the outside world, sit and leave feeling more "awakened".
But as the days passed I could feel a strong flight energy building. I became restless, anxious and increasingly alone. My body did not want more alone time in stillness. It wanted movement, connection and the familiar presence of the people with whom I felt safe.
So after six days, I left.
Looking back, leaving taught me something technique alone could not. Meditation can be deeply supportive, while also bringing us closer to sensations and emotions that may need movement, co-regulation or therapeautic support rather than more stillness.
Through my work since then, I have realised I am far from alone in this experience. Meditation can bring calm and connection, but it can also make restlessness, anxiety, emotion, numbness or disconnection more noticeable when everything else becomes quiet.
That retreat taught me to always honour what my body was communicating and send me on a path of seeking body-led and nervous system informed practices.
What guides my work
I believe the body needs to be part of the conversation.
We do not arrive at meditation, therapy or change as blank slates.
We arrive carrying our histories, relationships, physiology, stress, identity, culture and everything else we have already lived.
Sometimes slowing down feels nourishing. Sometimes it reveals grief, restlessness, numbness, fatigue or emotion that has not had much room elsewhere.
My work is not about pushing those experiences away or trying to make the body behave differently. It is about learning to notice what is here, listening for what it might be communicating, and meeting ourselves with more curiosity, choice and compassion.
It is the doorway.
Experience in practice
Teaching, mentoring and being with women.
Alongside my one-to-one work, I have spent years teaching and facilitating meditation, movement and embodied practice in groups, retreats and training settings.
Nature-based practice
We belong to the more-than-human world too.
Nature is woven through how I understand embodiment, belonging and restoration. There is something about stepping outside that can gently widen our attention beyond the constant circling of the mind.
The ground beneath us, moving air, birdsong, water, changing light and the quiet presence of trees can become part of how we notice ourselves again.
Nature does not ask us to perform. It can remind us that we are living bodies within a living world, always in relationship with something larger than ourselves.
A personal threshold
And then came motherhood.
Becoming a mother to twins after eleven years of IVF changed my relationship with my body again.
Pregnancy, birth, postpartum, breastfeeding, hormonal change, sleep deprivation and the physical reality of caring for two babies brought everything I had been learning out of theory and into everyday life.
It deepened my understanding of just how much women can be carrying while still trying to function, care, remember, anticipate, respond and keep going.
Motherhood has made me even less interested in asking women to override themselves in the name of wellbeing, and much more interested in what happens when we begin where a woman and her body actually are.
A little more personally
I am a person in this work too.
I am mum to wildly beautiful twins and married to my soul mate Ryan. Our family also includes Wally, our gorgeous rescue dog, and Ginny, our much-adored ginger cat.
I love long conversations, laughing with my sisters, swimming, wild places and thru-hiking, although that part of me is resting for a little while as two small people grow their hiking legs.
I feel most restored in nature and in spaces where women can speak honestly about what life really feels like, without needing to polish it first.

You do not have to find your way back to yourself alone.
